Man takes in food through the mouth. As it enters the body from esophagus to stomach and the other organs, it is transformed into kinetic energy. This force is responsible for keeping a man alive. Flora and fauna as well as beasts are source of nourishment. They can be eaten raw or cooked.

The earliest peoples used to hunt animals and gather fruits and berries for sustenance. At a certain point in history domestication of animals was achieved. Planting of fruit bearing trees were planted in orchards, gardens flourished and agriculture became a popular occupation. Most plant life were cultivated near the vicinity of waterways which were bordered by fertile soil.

As man multiplied, he needed to have more stock for nutrition. Timberlands were razed to so that it can be transformed in farmlands. Stretches of land were planted with grain producing grass. Contemporary ways of planting and collecting the grains have increased production. Poultry products now deliver plentiful eggs and the meat has better quality.

People ingest a lot of foodstuffs in all geographical locations. Looking into the past, most nutrients came from plants and creatures that are native to the place. Through the ages people moved around and this brought about changes in the way people eat. Things that could not be grown in a one place can now be grown in others. The development in mode of transferring goods and services has also hastened the exchanges.

Cultural differences influence the taste preference of a particular group of peoples. Man identifies the common taste, that is sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and those that are chemically enhance. The regions of the world have distinct cuisines and combines elements to change the flavor of it. These compositions are tailored to please the palate. Migrations have also affected regional ways of food preparation.

American cooking is heavily influenced by European cookery because most have ancestor that came from Europe. It also has an African side to it as the colored population mostly came from Africa. European menu is heavy on bread, grape wines, sausages, milk and milk products, and pasta to name a few. Africans like wheat grains, fruit, and vegetables. Asian cooking use a variety of spices and are most often stir fried. Rice is the staple of most Asians.

Every day a child is born, adding the existing population of the world. Food production is gearing up to meet the demand for it. What nature has given to man is being consumed at a very fast pace and this has raised concern among the many nations on earth. The bounty of the sea is dwindling. So too are the creatures that roam the forests. Producing meat and eggs however have made long strides. The preservation of natural resources is not to be taken for granted.

A man has to meet his basic need so as live. People live to taste the good things in life. Food is among the top of the list. There is nothing like a taste of honey and wine. Person should enjoy fine dining during a lifetime. Exquisite cuisine exists everywhere to satisfy the palate. Eat and be merry for tomorrow you shall die.
