Breakfast Catering: An Inexpensive And Tasty Alternative

By James Kennedy

Many find that their days are filled with so many chores and work demand that it is difficult to call a meeting or gathering together. Why not schedule a breakfast meeting? Foods that are provided for such an event through breakfast catering are reasonably priced and very tasty. They are also loaded with protein and offer a great start to a new day.

The best thing about this type of catering is that it is relatively inexpensive both from a caterer's and client's perspective. Eggs, bread, juices, and breakfast meats are not costly items and can make a fantastic meal. These types of foods are also easy to cook and serve as a plated meal or as a buffet.

Beverages served could include, of course, coffee. Flavored syrups and creams and a variety of sweeteners would all be delightful additions. Other tasty choices could be a variety of juices, smoothies, and a collection of hot teas from around the world. Make self-service easy by having everything on an easily-accessed table with all of the appropriate cups, spoons, napkins, and glassware.

Entree items would depend on the type of service. If it is a plated meal, everyone would be served the same type of food at the same time. It could be as simple as a slice of ham and cheese quiche with cold asparagus spears or a simple spinach omelet with breakfast potatoes. Pancakes with scrambled eggs is also a tasty morning dish as is a breakfast strata with sausage links and hash browns. Beverages could be re-filled continuously throughout the meal.

You can also consider a morning buffet. Some foods that you may want to consider for this may include a taco bar with ingredients for tacos such as bean and cheese, chorizo and egg, or potato and egg. A cereal station is also a quick and easy option; just provide hot and cold cereals with milk. Add fresh fruit and raisins for topping the cereals. A truly outstanding buffet would consist of smoked salmon and bagels, a fresh fruit compote, carved ham, croissants, and a variety of danish.

A boxed breakfast would be a great option for groups who just don't have much time. Some of these individuals may need to take their foods with them. An egg sandwich on a croissant or English muffin with a piece of whole fruit such as an orange or peach and some type of bottled juice would provide those in attendance with all of the nutrients they need to take on a busy day.

Choose a distinctive theme for this meal. You could offer a Mexican buffet that would include a make-your-own-taco station complete with re-fried beans, scrambled eggs, bacon, chorizo, tortillas, salsa, and avocado. Include a fresh fruit tray or a selection of whole fruits. Set up a New Year's buffet with the obligatory black-eyed peas.

So when you are considering another meeting for work, church, or a club you belong to, consider making it an early morning gathering. Everyone will be fresh and ready to take on the world. The food and drinks served will get everyone off to a great start and provide the impetus to get through your daily agenda with ease.
