Consumer Needs For The Right Cinnamon Toothpicks

By Jocelyn Davidson

Picking ones teeth is one of the earliest human habits which began many decades ago. It is approximated that this habit started with the invention of sticks that happened almost the same era as the invention of the wheel. During the ancient times, the sticks were made using metals such as gold and silver or wood, ivory and bone among others. Modern trends have shown the adoption of sticks made of wood as they have minimal effects on the dental structure. These sticks are available in different shapes like round and flat and include flavored sticks such as cinnamon toothpicks, frilled sticks and colored sticks among others.

Over the times, these wooden sticks have been used not only to pick ones teeth but to also in the making of garments in the clothing industry. But with technological advancements in the hospitality industry have led to the adoption of flavored sticks that have been used as an alternative to other mouth freshening products. Their flavor enables you to wade off the bad smell in your mouth and helps maintain a fresh breath all through.

There are various substances used to make flavored sticks such a cinnamon, maple, bacon, mint, citrus, orange, lemon and cherry among others. Flavored sticks are recommended for people who are addicted to nail biting, snacking and smoking among other forms of addiction. They are also preferred over chewing gum and candies because they are free of damaging calories and sugars that may cause dental cavities.

In the recent world many people who have been slaves of cigarette smoking for a long time use the sticks as a substitute. Once they get the cravings, they use the sticks to prevent the damage of the lungs after long times of smoking. Scientific research has it that once a cigarette smoker places the stick on the mouth, it manipulates the mind, and this leads to relieving the cigarette cravings.

The flavored sticks are readily available in most shopping outlets in different pack sizes. Most of the packs contain five to fifteen sticks, but there also other large packs which are commonly bought by people who want to reduce the cravings to certain oral habits. Unlike the plain sticks, flavored sticks can be more expensive due to the added flavor.

You can also make cinnamon-oiled sticks at home after buying the necessary raw materials such as cinnamon oil from certified food stores, flat or round wooden toothpicks and a clean glass jar. Pour one or two ounces of flavored cinnamon oil into a glass jar, dip your sticks into the oil, close the lid and soak them overnight.

Let them remain soaked overnight and open the jar the following morning. Remove the sticks from the jar and place them on a flat non-absorbent surface and wait for them to dry. To quicken the process, you can also use your microwave that may drive them faster. All you need is to preheat it to at least 250 Fahrenheit then put them inside while on a cookie sheet and wait for at least five minutes before removing them.

You can store the sticks in a suitable packaging product for later use. If any oil has remained, you can also store it and use it to make more flavored sticks another time. It is recommended that you buy your raw materials only from certified food stores and that you do personal research before making flavored sticks to avoid health complications.
