Oily types of this foods such as herring contain Omega-3 oils. These oils can be found in all the cells of the body. They are important for the normal operation of the human body.

There are some fish known to have big contents of fat. They include cod and haddock. They help in preventing coronary heart disease and they help one to develop strong teeth and bones. Shellfish are known to contain zinc which is important for healthy skin, body muscles and improved fertility. Many people in the old days ate them for those reasons. Nowadays, some still believe that Casanova apparently ate fifty oysters in one day.

However, fish are also known to contain concentrated mercury in their bodies. This is a very toxic organic compound. This mercury is stored in the muscle tissues of their bodies. Therefore, when one consumes them, the mercury consumes the whole body, thus increasing over time. A serious problem can be caused by that. One should consume this seafood with care even if they provide proteins.

Lately, it is said that sea food population is fading. This is due to pollution and too much of fishing. This has led to aquatic organs to be threatened. Reduction of sea foods is due to technology. Sea foods such as frogs and eels are not eaten . This is based in some religions. It should be clear for some restaurants and food stores to clearly label the foods.
