Farming as an agent of socialization. Whenever people are doing their duties in farming, they have a chance to relate with each other making farming to be a way of socialization. This is mainly achieved while people are working in farms, at markets or during frequent farming workshops where from these they get to learn on ideal farming practices, marketing systems and learn on adaptation of improved farming practices which intends to increase their rate of production.

Source of work. Farming will increase the employment opportunities in a society when it is practiced widely. This implies to local production where there is dependence on manpower rather than machines because machine use is not applicable due to the size of farms. Manpower is required in farm preparation, planting and also in harvesting the products. This benefits the farmer with enough revenue to cater for their familial requirements.

Conservation of the environment. The adaptation of local farming in this case cultivation of land using manpower reduces the risk of air pollution where animal and bird habitat are not destroyed. Adding to that, local production have ensured that there is preservation of their sources of food since there is minimal clearing of forests for the purpose of creating farm spaces. Moreover there have been benefits in soil conservation where the farming requires crop rotation which maintains soil fertility.

Land utilization. Through farming, people in the rural areas have developed the sense of how importance the land is. They become aware that land itself is a source of income if utilized to its fullness. This has reduced the existence of open spaces that are uncultivated. From this there have been reduced cases of rural urban migration in search of employment and reduced over dependence of products from rural areas for members in the urban centers who also practice small scale farming.

Natural taste and sufficient nutrients. The production of food adapts minimal use of chemicals. Though they require a longer period of production compared to genetically modified foods, they maintain the natural taste of the particular food and as well have plenty of nutrients which reduce the risks of acquiring nutrition related diseases like anemia.

Health benefits. When one consumes fresh farm produce they are at an advantage because they have not lost their nutritional value. Harvests tend to lose their nutritional content the moment they are harvested having minimal nutritional value to our bodies. One should also note that the nutritional value is lost when produce is manufactured refrigerated or dried.
